Rabbi Lau celebrating 10 years of Chabad in Romania
On the seventh night of Chanuka, Chabad Lyubavitsh celebrated 10 years of activity in Romania. On this occasion Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv-Jaffo and Chairman of the Yad Vashem Museum, came specially to Romania. The event took place at the Aristrocat Events Hall. A few hundred Jews from Bucharest took part in this event, in spite of the snow and the cold weather. Rabbi Lau opened the evening and he spoke about his childhood experience when he lit Chanuka candles in the concentration camp and about the importance of keeping the Jewish traditions all the time.
On the seventh night of Chanuka, Chabad Lyubavitsh celebrated 10 years of activity in Romania. On this occasion Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv-Jaffo and Chairman of the Yad Vashem Museum, came specially to Romania.
Rabbi Lau visited also the “Or Avner” Kindergarten and School and the children were very excited to meet him.
After the visit, Chabad Lyubavitsh in Romania organized a festive meal at the “Yeshua Tova” synagogue with the participation of Rabbi Lau and many businesspeople that came to be together with Rabbi Naftali and Risha Deutsch and to celebrate their wonderful activity in Romania from the day that they arrived and until today. Everything was done with the great help of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of the Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, and the family Rohr.
The event took place at the Aristrocat Events Hall. A few hundred Jews from Bucharest took part in this event, in spite of the snow and the cold weather. Rabbi Lau opened the evening and he spoke about his childhood experience when he lit Chanuka candles in the concentration camp and he emphasized the importance of keeping the Jewish traditions all the time.
At the event the people were honored by the presence of His Excellency Ambassador of the United States in Romania, Mark Gittenstein and his family, His Excellency Ambassador of Israel in Romania, Oren David, the President of the Jewish Communities in Romania, Aurel Vainer and other important guests.
The guests were delighted by the presence of the well-known violin player Mirel Reznic and the “Metofefim” band from Israel.
